I like what you said about routines. I LOVE routines. I'm a big nerd and I like to plan every little goal or target I have and I am obsessed with tracking my prgress. Routines help me do that.
But at the same time, I don't do well outside of routines and they can be a hinderence when it comes to my relationships and social life. Even creatively, there has to be some deliberate exposure to disruption (IMO of course) that inspires a spark. Breaking out of your routine can help with that.
Maybe a new unfamiliar song, a route to work, a new flavor of ice cream. That's how I force myself to do go out of routine.
